JBNHS ULSTER COUNTY BIG SIT RESULTS
For the first time ever members of the John Burroughs Natural History Society conducted an Ulster County Big Sit on Saturday, May 7th. This event served as a fundraiser for the installation of a gazebo and some interpretive signage at Galeville (SGNWR). Three formal “sits” were manned at the Great Vly in Saugerties, Kingston Point, and at the grasslands. 13 members covered the three 17′ circles for a total of 43 and a half hours and collectively identified a respectable 98 species. Thanks to those who “sat”, those who have pledged, and especially to Donna Seymour for stewarding this inaugural bird-a-thon.

It is not too late to make a donation so that we can place a shady and welcoming gazebo at Shawangunk Grasslands NWR, our only National Wildlife Refuge in Ulster County. Please pledge an amount to donate per species observed during the Big Sit (suggested levels are 25¢, 50¢, $1) or another amount. Use the Donate button below to make your donation online or, if you prefer to send a check,  make it out to JBNHS and send it to JBNHS Treasurer Lin Fagan (faganlin@verizon.net) at 281 W. Chestnut Street, Kingston, NY 12401.
