SUMMARY:MUSHROOM FORAY
DESCRIPTION:Excited to finally add this discipline to the JBNHS schedule and with non-other than our friend Chris Baker! It is difficult to predict in advance when the right combination of environmental conditions will make for a good mushroom walk but it’s typically a great time of year to be in the field and learn more about identification and mushroom “protocol”. Please register with Chris (chicorynaturalist@gmail.com ) to be properly prepared for this outing and to find out meet up time and location.

SUMMARY:ELECTION DAY SPARROWS AT JUNIPER FLATS
DESCRIPTION:A new tradition of two walks on Election Day to make it much easier to perform your civic duty. Since it’s Election Day the real twist will be which walk will have more species (votes) and will Vice President Deb Weltsch be installed as our next President or will Mark carry on with his life sentence. Muck boots and layered clothing are always a good idea regardless of the destination.\nDeb Weltsch ( dweltsch13@gmail.com ) will lead the walk at one of her favorite patches in Nyquist/Harcourt Sanctuary in New Paltz and hope for some unkempt gardens to pad her sparrow list. Contact Deb to register and to find out meet up time. \nMark DeDea ( forsythnature@aol.com ) will visit Seed Song Farm in the Town of Ulster (which we can pretty much guarantee will be unkempt) and provide candy on this short morning walk. Contact Mark to register and to find out meet up time.

SUMMARY:ASHOKAN RESERVOIR BIRDWALK
DESCRIPTION:The “Rez” can provide some of the most interesting birds in Ulster County in late fall. SUMMARY:EMPIRE STATE TRAIL/SOJOUNER TRUTH STATE PARK BIRDING
DESCRIPTION:A morning to remember everyone’s favorite Beatle with a warm\, caloric breakfast snack and some Birds & Beans coffee to help. If time allows we may even look for some birds along the dramatically improved Empire State Trail once known as “Immigrant’s Way” and maybe stroll up to the state park lot if it’s left unmowed and birdy. We will meet at the Kingston Point Beach parking lot to scan for gulls and waterfowl and can then put our scopes away for a leisurely and easy walk on a paved trail with our binoculars. Please register with Mark DeDea ( forsythnature@aol.com ) so I know how much bread pudding to make.
