SUMMARY:BEST FRIENDS WALK AT BLACK CREEK PRESERVE
DESCRIPTION:An occasion to visit nature with your best dog and human friends! John Burroughs described the dog as the “ideal walking companion” in Ways of Nature in 1905. We will visit this spectacular Scenic Hudson nature preserve that was a JB favorite in all four astronomical seasons this year to prove that point. There are a variety of trails on 142 acres with lots of interesting spots to view birds and nature at its finest. Black Creek Preserve\, Winding Brook Road\, Esopus\, NY 12429 (off 9W)\, meet in parking area. \n*Dogs only welcome\, please be reasonably behaved and mostly friendly with other dogs and humans.\n**Note: Please do join even if you don’t have a dog\, sometimes it’s nice just to play with other people’s puppies!\n***Bring binoculars\, scopes (and poop bags)\, there are fantastic river views!\n=> Please register with Sue Begnal for start time (susan.begnal@gmail.com )

This Scenic Hudson property might sound more like a Utah sub-division but in approximately ten years of keeping track of bird sightings here has moved into 15th place on the list of birdiest places in Ulster County. Muck boots are recommended to keep feet dry from the morning dew/frost and dress in layers as temperatures could greatly change from start time to early afternoon

Books will be available for purchase through Blue Heron Books (High Falls) at the meeting and can be found online as well at the link below and Bookshop or Birds Unlimited. \nHe is an award-winning journalist who has written for the New York Times\, Texas Monthly\, The Intercept\, ProPublica\, National Geographic\, and Popular Science\, among many other publications.
