SUMMARY:FALL MIGRANTS AT BURROUGHS SANCTUARY
DESCRIPTION:This is a co-sponsored bird walk with the John Burroughs Association at the wonderful Burroughs Sanctuary. We will bird the improved trail system (rated as easy to moderate) searching for transient passerines. Contact trip leader Mark DeDea (forsythnature@aol.com ) to register. Follow the “Path through History” signs at the intersection of Floyd Ackert Road and Rt. 9W in West Park and turn west onto Floyd Ackert Road (at End Cut restaurant) and continue for about a mile\, past Burroughs Drive continue a short distance and make a left at the next sanctuary entrance with the new sign marked with Black Creek Trail and Pond Entrance to park.

SUMMARY:AUTUMN CATSKILL PEAKS HIKE
DESCRIPTION:We will hike to Indian Head (3573’) and Twin Mountains (3650′) from the Prediger Road trailhead on Platte Clove Road. The round trip distance is about 7 miles\, with some steep climbs leading to excellent views. Meet at the trailhead by 8:00 AM or car pool from the Kingston Thruway traffic circle meeting at 7:00 AM. SUMMARY:SANDY HOOK BIRDING DAY TRIP
DESCRIPTION:Sandy Hook is that little “finger” at the northeast corner of New Jersey. This piece of land projects north nearly into the south bay of New York harbor. This orientation makes it a perfect spot to receive southbound birds (and western vagrants) in the fall and for this reason has earned a reputation as one of the best birding locations in the metropolitan area. Contact trip organizer Deb Weltsch (dweltsch13@gmail.com ) for meet up time and location. This will be a\ncarpooling field trip and registration will be limited so field party can move about easily while visiting the “hook”.
