TREE IDENTIFICATION WALK

FALL BIRDING WILDCARD

ELECTION DAY SPARROWS

PRE-REGISTER with Mark DeDea (forsythnature@aol.com ) to find out meeting time and location. Fulfill your civic duty and join JBNHS at a sparrow hotspot. Muck boots are recommended to keep feet dry from the morning dew/frost and dress in layers as temperatures could greatly change from start time to early afternoon

The party will bird a stretch of the Hurley rail trail or two depending on conditions to scout out locations for the following week’s Christmas Bird Count. NYML CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT

Contact Steve Chorvas (246-5900 or schorvas@gmail.com ) for possible assignment in the Mohonk Lake/Ashokan Reservoir count circle no later than Saturday, December 5th. Reports from feeder watchers in the count circle are also desired.

NYUD CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT

Contact Mark DeDea ( forsythnature@aol.com ) for possible assignment in the Ulster/ Dutchess count circle no later than Saturday, December 19th. Reports from feeder watchers in the count circle are also desired.

NYMS CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT

The NYMS (Minnewaska/Shawangunk) Christmas Bird Count takes it’s third voyage and is sure to be exciting with lots of our favorite winter birding spots within the circle. Contact Nick Martin (255-0752 or Nicholas.Martin@parks.ny.gov ) for possible assignment no later than Saturday, December 28th. Reports from feeder watchers in the count circle are also desired.

All participants should be aware of existing guidelines and new field trip protocol listed below:
Participant responsibility agreement while attending a JBNHS field trip: By registering, each participant acknowledges their acceptance of the Individual’s Responsibilities.

Individual’s Responsibilities are:

  1. To stay with the group, follow trip leader’s requests, and do not separate unless you notify trip leader
  2. To understand that out-of-doors activities involve hazards and that one participates at one’s own risk
  3. To wear clothing and footwear appropriate to the terrain, and for sun and insect challenges as well
  4. To adhere to the ABA Birding Code of Ethics, respect and preserve the flora, fauna, and properties we visit
  5. To be mindful and courteous to other participants

Additionally:

  1. Optics may be shared if those involved are comfortable with doing so
  2. Carpooling is at the discretion of participants.
  3. Preregistration is required for all field trips and participation may be limited.
